Tech Jobs Amsterdam: 187 New Startup Roles

Amsterdam startups added 187 open tech positions in the first week of July, according to listings tracked by the local platform Startup Jobs Amsterdam.

The increase follows two major seed rounds closed by firms based in the city last month, which freed capital for engineering and product hires. Global supply chain pressures and shifting EU data rules have pushed companies to build teams closer to home rather than rely on distant contractors.

Hubs Seeing the Most Activity

Activity clusters around the Science Park campus, where the Startup Village now hosts 48 companies, and along the Wibautstraat corridor near Amstel station. Several teams there expanded headcount after securing grants from the Amsterdam Economic Board programme that runs through December 2026. A second cluster sits in the Houthavens district, where co-working operator B. Amsterdam reported 12 new tenants since May, most of them hiring backend developers and data analysts.

Local payroll data from the Chamber of Commerce shows average starting salaries for mid-level software engineers reached €68,500 in June, up €3,200 from the same month last year. The same figures indicate that 64 percent of the new postings require Dutch or EU work authorisation, narrowing the applicant pool compared with 2024.
