Amsterdam Launches 200+ Building Projects Across Eight Districts
City site shows residents how to track work on new homes, street redesigns and area upgrades in their own neighbourhoods.
How we reported this

Amsterdam maintains a public list of more than 200 construction and traffic projects that cover new housing, major maintenance, street and road redesign, park improvements and larger area developments.
Projects grouped by district
The overview breaks the work into eight districts: Centrum, Nieuw-West, Noord, Oost, Weesp, West, Zuid and Zuidoost. Each section includes recent photographs of active sites such as Westermarkt, Uitzichtplein, Buiksloterham, Cruquiusgebied, Houthaven, Van Woustraat and Arenapoort. Separate pages cover ongoing work on canal walls, bridges and the electricity grid operated by Liander.
The city site states that residents can follow every project through an interactive map at kaart.amsterdam.nl/bouwprojecten or inside the Amsterdam App. Filters allow users to search by keyword or by district so people see only the work nearest to them.
Next steps for residents
Anyone who wants to comment on a project can use the participation options listed on each project page. The site also directs users to the full map view, which shows the exact location of every listed scheme and includes a legend that explains symbols for different types of work.
People who live near a site can open the Amsterdam App on their phone, search for the nearest project and receive updates on timelines and any temporary road closures. The same tool lets users switch between the full city view and a zoomed-in neighbourhood view without leaving the application.
City staff update the project list as new schemes start or existing ones finish, so the number of entries changes over time. Checking the map or the app remains the quickest way to find out what will happen next on any given street or in any given district.
